A-Train Is Set To Distribute Qnote Titles

A-Train is pleased to announce the release of several Qnote titles by the late John Dankworth. Jazz Matters features two suites of new music written by Dankworth with lyrics by Duncan Lamont. Recorded in 2007 at The Stables Theatre on the grounds of Dankworth and Lain’s home in Wavendon, “The Blues Ain’t” and “World Jazz” were individually premiered at the BBC Proms and The London Jazz Festival and have been described as worthy companions that explore unusual facets of the blues and what can be done in the space of twelve bars.

In addition to Jazz Matters A-Train’s initial release from Qnotes will also include  JadyAdie,  a duo project with the father and son team of John and Alec Dankworth as well as JD5 another project featuring John and Alec along with pianist John Horler, trombonist Mark Nightingale, and drummer Allan Ganley. Subsequent releases will include recordings by Cleo Laine, Rod Argent, Julian Lloyd Webber and more

John Dankworth is one of the founding fathers of modern jazz in Britain. With a career that spanned over 60 years, he has led bands big and small, written film music, conducted symphony orchestras, and shared stages all over the world with his wife, renowned vocalist Cleo Laine. Dankworth passed away on February 6th 2008 at the age of 82.
